Manaus Weather & Climate: Best Time to Visit
Average temperatures, rainfall, sunshine and the best time to visit Manaus.
Climate overview of Manaus
Manaus is a large city in northern Brazil and the capital of the state of Amazonas. It is located near the confluence of the Rio Negro and the Rio Solimões (also called the Encontro das Águas), which merge here to form the Amazon River. Because the two rivers have different temperatures and flow speeds, they do not mix immediately and continue to flow side by side for almost six kilometers (3.7 miles).
Manaus has a tropical rainforest climate without a distinct dry season. Rainfall is fairly high year-round, peaking in the summer months (which correspond to winter in Europe). The climate is largely shaped by the surrounding rainforest; high humidity and warm temperatures can make it feel quite humid during the summer. The rainforest also helps moderate the climate, preventing extreme temperature variations.
